Become a Knight or Princess for the Day
During summer (July and August only), step back into the Middle Ages with a costumed visit at the castle of Saint-Jean-d’Angle, a medieval castle in Charente-Maritime, south-west France. During July and August, children and adults can put on a knight’s or princess’s costume free of charge upon arrival and set off to explore the castle and its medieval adventure park. It is an original and fun way to discover France’s medieval heritage with the whole family, just a short distance from Rochefort, Fouras and Marennes.
An Immersive Medieval Experience for All Ages
Dressed as a real knight or princess, you can explore the Medieval castle of Saint-Jean-d’Angle and immerse yourself in the world of Lord Lusignan.
This family-friendly experience is part of a wider adventure through the castle grounds. Discover the ramparts, guardroom, castle motte, siege engines, medieval garden, traditional wooden games and archery activities. There is plenty to explore while having fun and travelling back in time. To enjoy the castle and its many activities at a relaxed pace, allow approximately three hours for your visit.

The castle of Saint-Jean-d’Angle is an original family attraction for visitors spending their holidays in Charente-Maritime, France.

Costumes are available free of charge during July and August, allowing visitors to enjoy a more immersive experience and take memorable photographs in front of the castle.
